What Will You Do With This Message?

You’ve read the story. You’ve seen the suffering. You’ve heard the painting’s silent scream. As a new student at City Tech, you’re stepping into a world where your ideas and creativity can have real impact. Guernica is proof that one image can challenge violence, question power, and move people.

Now what?

Art has power. It can protest, provoke, and inspire change. Picasso used his gift to speak out against injustice. You can too. You don’t have to be a painter. Your voice matters through writing, music, protest, design, coding, or even conversation.

Here are some ways to respond:

  • Reflect: What does Guernica make you feel?
  • Create: Design your own anti-war poster or poem.
  • Speak: Talk to someone about what you learned.
  • Act: Support causes that promote peace and protect civilians in war zones.

The point is that don’t stay silent. Use your voice. Share the story. Be the echo of that cry that Picasso painted.

“Art is not made to decorate rooms. It is an instrument of war.”
- Pablo Picasso
